On Tuesday, April 28, 2020, Governor Murphy signed Executive Order 130. t permits any governing body of a municipality to adopt a resolution instituting a grace period for the payment of second-quarter property taxes to no later than June 1, 2020.This is not an automatic extension of the May 1st payment due date to June 1st. It only allows a municipality that "may" choose to do so to extend the grace period up to that date. A taxpayer should check with his/her local municipal tax collector's office to see if his/her municipality has adopted any such resolution or extension.A copy of Executive Order 130 is attached.
