On April 24, 2020, the Atlantic County Board of Taxation released a statement concerning when it will hear property tax appeals that are filed before the COVID-19 state of emergency ends. Specifically, all tax appeals filed before the state of emergency ends will be scheduled for a Board hearing within 30 days of the end of the emergency. So, if the State of New Jersey ends the emergency on May 15th, the Board will schedule hearings within 3-4 weeks of that date. Appeals filed after the end of the emergency will be scheduled for a later date. In addition, hearings for separate properties owned the same individual or business entity will not be combined to a later date.

Since the deadline to file a tax appeal for your commercial or residential property (usually April 1st) is now a moving target, it is important to decide whether you are going to file a tax appeal for 2020, if you have not already done so.If you have any questions regarding tax appeals, please call Ray Went at (609) 703-0767 to further discuss our law firm's tax appeal legal services.
